How do I book a Motorcycle Centric tour?

Complete and return a booking inquiry form on-line, by email or post. You will receive a quotation, a booking form and a copy of our Terms & Conditions by email or post. Returning the booking form completes the booking..

Do we start riding on day of arrival?

2 Week Tours
No. Most people arrive on a Saturday (or earlier). We have dinner as a group on Saturday night. We start riding Sunday after orientation.

4 & 5 Day Tours
Yes. We have an early morning orientation then we set off.

What kind of clothes should I bring?

You should bring a variety of clothes that provide protection while operating the motorcycle (light, layered is best). Our tours run all year round and designed to avoid the extremes of seasonal weather but we will experience quite large swings in temperature due to changes in altitude. Please pack a bit of everything as we have the support vehicle carrying the luggage. (don’t forget a good pair of sunglasses that work with your helmet).

How many people are in a group?

We allow a maximum of 10 bikes per group, people numbers will vary

Do we ride every day?

The tours have built in flexibility. We stay two/three nights in three locations to provide relaxation, sightseeing or the opportunity to explore.

After I arrive, how do I get from the airport to the hotel?

2 Week Tours
Transport is included and provided to and from the Crowne Plaza, San Marcos Golf Resort and Sky harbor International Airport on arrival and departure. Please note it is your responsibility to forward relevant flight information to tours@motorcyclecentric.com

4 & 5 Day Tours
No transport provided. We meet at the Crowne Plaza, San Marcos Golf Resort for an early morning orientation on the first day of the tour.

Do I need to bring rain gear?

Yes, it is recommended to bring your own rain gear.

Can I book additional nights before or after the tour through Motorcycle Centric?

Yes, we are happy to book additional accommodation before or after the tour for you. Please be aware that once an additional reservation has been made any changes or cancellation may result in additional charges.

What kind of insurance do you recommend?

Insurance while operating the motorcycle is mandatory and provided by MBA Insurance of Scottsdale at a cost of $15/day with a $1,000 deductible. The insurance covers theft, collision damage and liability in accordance with the state minimums of Arizona, Nevada and Utah. The $15/day is paid directly to MBA Insurance by credit/debit card at orientation. Other insurance such as Medical, Lost Luggage, Tour Cancellation or additional Liability is at your own discretion.

Do I have to wear a helmet?

For safety reasons you should wear a helmet at all times when you ride a motorcycle.

What are the hotels like on a guided tour?

In the cities where we have more than one overnight stop we have chosen 3/4 star hotels. In the more remote areas, with one overnight stop, the hotels are of a lower standard generally but have most of the modern amenities you need including swimming pools/hot tubs, cable/satellite TV and telephone.

Do I need a motorcycle driver license to take part in a guided tour?

Yes, a valid motorcycle driver license is mandatory to take part in a guided tour or operate a motorcycle.

What level of experience is required?

You have to be at least 25 years old (rider) to be able to ride our motorcycles. In addition riders are required to have over two years fully licensed experience on +600cc motorcycles.

Can I check my email while on tour?

Most hotels will offer amenities like a computer terminal or wireless access in the lobby or high-speed internet access in your room.

What is the weather going to be like?

In Winter the weather is beautiful, that is why the population of Phoenix doubles in the winter (Snowbirds). We get snow and ice in the higher elevations but we avoid that on the winter tours. The morning temperatures can get quite low (above freezing) especially in out-lying desert areas. In the summer we get some pretty high temperatures (+100F). Our summer tours are mostly in the high country where the summer temperatures are more moderate. In July, August and into September we tend to get localized thunderstorms developing in the afternoon. These can be quite severe but very spectacular, and normally avoided. (you can see them coming).

How many miles do we ride each day?

The average is approximately 150 miles per day. There will be a few days where the mileage exceeds 250 miles per day. You will receive a detailed map detailing the daily routes at orientation. Every morning your tour guide will be available to review each day’s itinerary.

Can I go in the support vehicle if I get tired?

The support vehicle is primarily for transporting your luggage and towing the trailer with spare motorcycle. It can carry a limited number of passengers in extenuating circumstances.

Will I receive a map of the tour?

You will receive a detailed map for the complete tour at orientation. Every morning your tour guide will be available to review the day’s itinerary.

What if my flight is delayed and I can’t make it on time?

It is your responsibility to arrive on time for the tour start. However, we do provide some flexibility as the 2 week tours do not leave the Phoenix area during the first few days. This will affect your airport pickup, so, please contact us with any flight changes and new arrival time.

What documentation is required?

Riders will need a motorcycle operator’s license and a credit/debit card. Non US citizens will require passports. Until 2001 most countries did not need a visa to enter the USA. All of Europe and Canada fell under the Visa Waiver Program and allowed a stay of 90 days. Since 2001 The Visa Waiver Program has changed slightly, depending on when your Passport was issued or renewed. Please check uscis.gov for latest Visa Waiver Program information. Please make sure your passport is still valid for at least another 3 months and if required a valid visa.

Do I have to pay a deposit to make a reservation?

Yes, A %15 non-refundable deposit is required to make a reservation.

Can I use my own motorcycle?

Yes. All terms and conditions apply plus:
a. Touring and sport touring motorcycles only.
b. You will be required to show proof of insurance.
c. Youare responsible for maintenance and breakdowns
